How to Prepare for a Community Property Management Meeting

property managerIf you live in an area that is under the jurisdiction of a community property management team, it can be very important to periodically go to their meetings. A lot is discussed in these meetings, and many times you can raise any issues you may have and ensure that they are taken into consideration. Of course, it can be a very good thing to prepare before going to these meetings so that you are informed on everything that the community is dealing with. We have some things that can help you prepare before you go to a meeting.

  • Prepare Questions in Advance: If you have concerns and questions you want to speak about, prepare them in advance. Many communities even allow you to present them in advance, as well, so that the board can speak about them when the meeting begins. Be sure to put these questions in writing, since this is the only way they can go on record.
  • Follow Rules: Any issues that need to be voted on need to follow certain rules of protocol. If you have a concern that you want dealt with, you need to understand and follow these rules to the letter. A property manager will be happy to explain the rules to you if you are not sure, so do not hesitate to ask.
  • Be on Time: No one wants to be interrupted by someone arriving late to a meeting. Do your best to arrive on time for each meeting you attend. Not only will you be ensuring that your concerns are heard but you will also avoid missing any important news that can pertain to your own property.
  • Keep Up With News: You want to be as informed as possible before you go to any meeting in your community. This can only happen if you are up to date on everything that is happening in the area. Many HOA management communities give you the option of receiving newsletters, so take advantage of this. The more informed you are, then more likely you will be to be able to avoid issues in the future.
  • Be Prepared: If you want to formally make a complaint or a request, take the time to prepare a coherent statement so that you can ensure your voice will be heard. Clearly state what you are asking from the board and consider leaving it in writing, as well. This will make it more likely that our request will be taken seriously.

Communication is key when living in a place with HOA management. You want to know the rules, so going to community meetings can make this possible. If you have concerns, you can voice them at these meetings easily. Take the time to do some research on the latest issues the community is facing and if you have a potential solution, be sure to to share it with the board. This is the way that things get done in the right HOA management meetings, so take advantage of the chance of giving your input.
