Modern vs traditional rugs

Wood and tile floors are beautiful.  However, sometimes it becomes necessary to soften things up and one way to do that is with a well-placed traditional area rug. They can map out a good-sized space for both entertaining and relaxing. Moreover, if you choose the right size, they can also tuck neatly under furniture feet. Area rugs also add a sense of warmth to a room and that can be important, especially during the winter. They can also help protect your flooring and come in a huge assortment of styles, colors, and sizes. Therefore, there is no limit to what you can find when looking for some cozy fibers to put underneath your feet.

Decorating your home is a matter of personal taste. Large rugs can be used to set the tone for any room they are placed in. However, there are many rug styles, including both traditional and modern. It is best to choose a style that will fit within the context of your home or you can start fresh by beginning with a rug and creating the rest of the room’s ambiance around it.

Traditional rugs have designs that are typically modern-day representations of European and Asian patterns. In many cases, a traditional rug may have a design that is the same pattern that has been used for many generations. Traditional rugs also tend to be thought of as formal. However, they can be used in casual living spaces including dens and game rooms. More often than not, traditional rug designs have floral or other intricate patterns, as well as borders, and central medallions that are in shapes like diamonds, octagons, and hexagons.

Additionally, they also tend to resemble a tapestry and tend to be a sign of luxury and comfort. Moreover, traditional rugs look best with antique or wooden furniture and are also a good choice when you want a look that is classic and sophisticated.

On the other hand, modern rugs tend to have bold patterns and colors. Designers typically use large shapes with only a few colors in order to make a statement. Additionally, these rugs have resembled contemporary artwork and provide a functional and comfortable use in your home. However, not all modern rug styles are big and blocky. Uneven, colored stripes are also popular, as are more natural looks with flowering vines and branches. Modern rugs are quite different from traditional ones.

Whichever style you choose, be sure that you take good care of it. Be sure to vacuum it at least twice a week and move it around at least twice a year. Additionally, you should also have it professionally cleaned at least once a year. This will help to keep it looking newer longer. Rugs tend to last around 10 years as long as they are maintained well.

Whether you choose traditional or modern, you also have to decide what materials it should be made from and if it should be handmade or not.
